Molly Markley brings extensive experience in higher education law, institutional governance, and complex legal and regulatory matters. Prior to joining XL Law & Consulting, Molly served as General Counsel for the Colorado School of Mines, where she acted as the university’s chief legal officer and provided strategic counsel to the Board of Trustees, President, and senior leadership. Throughout her career at Colorado School of Mines, Molly advised on a broad range of matters, including institutional governance, commercial transactions, research and sponsored programs, intellectual property, data privacy, cybersecurity, real estate, international initiatives, and regulatory compliance. Prior to becoming General Counsel, she served as both Associate General Counsel and Assistant General Counsel for the university. Molly also brings significant experience in university technology transfer and intellectual property licensing, having previously held several roles within the University of Colorado’s Technology Transfer Office.
Molly earned her J.D. from the University of Colorado Law School, an M.S. in Biomedical Science from Colorado State University, and a B.S. from Cornell University. She is admitted to practice in Colorado and is a member of the National Association of College and University Attorneys and the Colorado Bar Association.
